I have so many photo blogs bookmarked on my computer. Too many. There’s one that I keep coming back to. . . pretty much every day.
Sarah Rhoads is a husband/wife team based out of Seattle. I discovered them about a year ago and I. Love. Them. I adore their creative vision and artistic voice. Sarah’s writing pulls me in every time - speaking of, I admire people who write well. It’s like the perfect fusion of storytelling - to be able to a convey a story with powerful words AND images. This post is merely to give them more exposure because I think they’re bomb. If you haven’t already heard of them and have a minute, stop by their blog and leave some love. Don’t hate me for getting hooked though
If you know me well, you know I’m a Disney fanatic. I’ve learned from my mother. Growing up, we always had 2 trees at Chrimmy time. One that was entirely dedicated to Disney. We took family trips to Disney World every couple of years. Some of my happiest memories come from the sunshine state.
I’d never been to Disneyland before. When I found out I’d be making a trip out to California, I knew I’d want to go. Thankfully Kali was on board too
Kal - I assure you I had no say in choosing the opening still of the video when it uploaded. But, I think it’s pretty fabulous nonetheless
My parents are Christmas fanatics. At the core, I think they love Christmas so much as it’s an excuse to give, give, and give some more. My mother takes pride in being one of the best gift givers in history of the universe. Truly. Every year she and my dad completely outdo themselves. A few days after Christmas, I posted a video on my blog of Christmas day with my family. If you haven’t had a chance to see it and would like to, click here. . .
. . . I temporarily lose it in the video. You know, crying and all. I warned you I’m my mother’s daughter. My mother is superwoman (and the holiday cheermeister) and managed to lock in a spot for me at a Jasmine Star Workshop. In California. I was so shocked when I received the gift. I admit, I totally geeked out. I was just honestly so touched by how truly thoughtful the gift was and still is.
Fast forward to this very minute. I’ve had a little over a day to process everything that went down at The Workshop on Tuesday. I’m overwhelmed and my heart feels like it is bursting at its seams. I learned so much and am so excited to have a group of new photographer friends that come from places near and far: Tennessee, D.C, Hawaii, Georgia, Cali and Canada to name a few. It feels so, so good to be in an industry where everyone helps each other out. To say I’m excited for the future would be an understatement.
Jodi and Matt were our models for the workshop. They were fun and easygoing Jodi’s dress was designed by the super talented Joan Shum.
Today I leave for California. I’ve never been before and and I hear pretty nice things about Cali from time to time Namely, the weather. I joked with a buddy that I’ve had trouble packing for this trip because I feel like I’ve forgotten how to dress for warm weather. Feels like it has been forever. I had to bust out sandals. Weird. Ya know how it feels so strange to wear sandals for the first time when you haven’t worn them in MONTHS?
I have been incredibly blessed with an opportunity to attend a Jasmine Star workshop in California next Tuesday. It’s very exciting for me. Jasmine is moving mountains in the photography world: both for her talent & her character. If you haven’t seen her blog before, click here. I can’t wait to meet her and the 20 or so other photographers. I’m eager to learn as much as I can. I know it will be an awesome experience for me and I can’t wait to share more with you all about it. But that will have to come later . . .
. . . for now, I’m Cali bound.
I like posts more with pictures. I tagged along with my brother at the studio while he was recording the other day. So proud of Dave I could cry. But I won’t. Guh. . . I am so my mother.
I am so, so excited right now! Colts are playing in the superbowl today and you can just feel the excitement in the air. All around the city. Last time the Colts won the superbowl, I was a sophomore in college. I had a handful of my closest friends over to my house on Hunter in Bloomington. After the Colts won, we all ran through the streets…screaming like lunatics It’s one of my favorite memories from college.
I’m so pumped to watch the game with close friends again this year. I’ll be sportin’ jersey #85….Garçon! Yeeeeah! I made some Colts cuppycakes Nomnomnom.
Win or lose, today will be memorable for how BEAUTIFUL it is outside. The kind of beauty that is so easy to take for granted. These make me smile.
GO COLTS! Hope your day is filled to the brim-tippy-top with FUN!
