I love these guys. They’re all like my big brothers. With the exception of Dave, who actually is my big brother
If you haven’t checked them out yet, please take a minute to browse around their website. They’re hard working and put on an awesome show.

My real big brother Dave…

What a sweet, sweet family! I so enjoyed spending an afternoon with them. We had perfect weather. I seriously can’t believe it’s November. This weather has been insane - but I won’t complain
Enjoy!

Recognize the girl in the middle? I took Ali’s senior photos not long ago, and she is still incredibly easy to photograph.

Ali is so sweet with the boys…

One of my favorite portraits taken in a while! LOVE it. Makes me smile

So sweet, I love this one!

I remember the night before I left. It was the eve of my 21st birthday. That feeling lying in bed, my heart racing and thinking, ‘Alright, so tomorrow I’ll wake up and move to Florence for 3 months. Totally normal. Nothing to be worried about!’ The truth is though there was nothing normal about my leaving for Italy, but that’s what made it so exciting. So exhilarating. If approached about studying in a foreign country, say, freshman year of high school…I would have totally dismissed the idea. Only because I’ve always been a homebody at heart. I wasn’t sure if I was brave enough to do it.
Somewhere along the way I decided I wanted to. I needed to. I needed to step out of my comfort zone and explore. So much of what scared me about moving to a completely foreign place was the unknown. While that may excite other people, it’s what terrified me. I tend to be a creature of habit. So, by default, moving to a non English speaking country would undoubtedly throw me for a couple loops.
While waiting to fly across the Atlantic, I sat in the Boston airport reading a note my sister had written me. In true Beth fashion, the note was a perfect blend of humor + heartfelt. My favorite part though was, and I quote, ‘Try to speak Italian even when you feel like a complete s*** - they’ll appreciate it’. So eloquently put : ) In truth though, those words meant so much at the time! I wanted to learn and grow leaps and bounds in Italy. I knew I wouldn’t if I didn’t try. I’m sure I butchered the language on so many occasions. I used to joke with my roommate Kali that we were probably saying offensive things at times without even knowing it. At least we were trying! In a place where so much was unknown and unfamiliar, we had nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Those 3 months living on Via Sant’Antonino taught me, more than anything else, to embrace the unknown. You never know where it will take you and what fabulous people you will meet along the way.

I feel so lucky to have photographed this family. There’s something so fun about photographing a family with one little girl and one little boy. Big bonus too when the kids are beyond adorable and totally know how to ham it up for the camera. We had so much fun goofing around during the shoot. I loooooove (note: I would add several lines of O’s if I thought it wouldn’t bore you!) when the parents really get into the shoot with their kids. It’s all about having fun right? Making memories.
Meet the sweet, sweet Duncan family.

Meet Aiden. Pretty darn cute right?

Addison blew my miiiiiind with how cute she was. Truthfully. Cuteness overload.

We ended our shoot with a trip to the Flying Cupcake

And, as a sidenote, is it a little sad that I actually kind of want one of the Team Edward water bottles for New Moon?
Happy Tuesday!!
True story. When I was little I wanted to be one of two things. One - a cashier at the supermarket. Those cashiers got to press those plastic coated buttons all day and that, that was fun. Ya know those toys growing up where you had your very own supermarket lane + fake food and money? You could even swipe the food across the scanner and it would beep. I was fascinated by those! It appears I still am just a little
So, a cashier. Or a teacher. I envied teachers because they graded papers. They drew big smiley’s in red pen all the day long. On occasion they dwelled over which tiny sticker would accompany the grade. Geeeeeez, the life right?! I thought so.
Today I spoke to a group of 5-8th graders at St. Thomas Aquinas about my experience and knowledge as a photographer. I went to St. Thomas myself and loved it so much growing up. It was crazy telling the kids I graduated back in 2001. Because really, it was back in 2001. Errr 8 years ago. The kids were so fun and I really enjoyed myself. And, while I’m at it, go hug a teacher. That’s tough and honorable work
Thanks to my Mom for tagging along and snapping a few of these pics.

The kids were divided up into groups and had a list of different types of photographs to take…

…I encouraged them to be creative with their angles and do whatever they needed in order to get the shot!

Hard at work

Hopped behind the camera for a sec to grab this shot. All kids love to jump for the camera!

All together now

Blue Moon Revue is opening up for the Meat Puppets this Sunday, 11/15 at Radio Radio! Doors open at 4, BMR on stage at 5! I’ll be there…hope to see you come out too
Happy Thursday! Meanwhile…a few images of my brother Dave…

Newly purchased heels that make my heart swoon <3

Check out this family! Cuteness Overload. Consider yourself warned. Shoots never go how I envision them to in my head, but that’s what makes it so fun for me!! I LOVE to roll with the punches, go with the flow….and capture a story. It didn’t take long to see that this family has something special. Photographing two girls always reminds me of how much fun I have with my big sis.
To the Stamper family, thank you for giving me a glimpse into your family! You all were wonderful. Hayden and Morgan - I hope Halloween was all you dreamed it to be! I bet you were the prettiest Jasmine and Belle around town
Starting things off with one of my favorites…

Morgan on the left, Hayden on the right

Morgan knew how to ham it up for sure. Here she just got up and busted a move. Go ahead girl!

You can tell the girls are really close with their dad! Make sure to check out the slideshow at the end of the post

Loving this…

I love Morgan’s face here, so serious

This makes my heart do flips.

The images that really stuck out for me while editing this shoot were the moments of the girls with their dad…check out the slideshow!!!
