Superbowl Sunday

I am so, so excited right now! Colts are playing in the superbowl today and you can just feel the excitement in the air. All around the city. Last time the Colts won the superbowl, I was a sophomore in college. I had a handful of my closest friends over to my house on Hunter in Bloomington. After the Colts won, we all ran through the streets…screaming like lunatics :) It’s one of my favorite memories from college.

I’m so pumped to watch the game with close friends again this year. I’ll be sportin’ jersey #85….Garçon! Yeeeeah! I made some Colts cuppycakes :) Nomnomnom.

Win or lose, today will be memorable for how BEAUTIFUL it is outside. The kind of beauty that is so easy to take for granted. These make me smile.

Emily & Lance

This was an unbelievably beautiful wedding I shot with the amazing Megan Grandi. It took place on the prettiest piece of land . .  probably in the universe. I really wanted to share a handful of my favorites. What an awesome experience. I’m so happy I could be there for it. If you haven’t been to Megan’s site, click here to check her out : ) Thank you M for the opportunity.

WHY

I believe in life. I believe in its ups and downs - its triumphs and its tragedies. I believe in loving fully and unequivocally. I believe in choosing to be compassionate. I believe in laughing through the hard times. I believe in new beginnings. I believe in seeing the glass half full. I believe in forgiveness and humility. I believe in laughing too loud. I believe in getting uncomfortable to experience growth. I believe in family. I believe in crying - in public, at the movies, and on the phone with a best friend. I believe in people - that every person, in his own unique way, is a true inspiration.

Why I’m a photographer is infinitely more important than what I create as a photographer. Being a photographer is a manifestation of my beliefs.  It is my creative outlet - my way of showing others just how inspiring an individual, a family, and a couple in love can be. There is an honesty in photography that I literally crave. Photography doesn’t question anyone or anything. It is entirely impartial.  Images speak for themselves. In the end, I want to be remembered for me, for my WHY.

I feel blessed that photography happened to me. I say happened because bam! . . I started my own business and my life was instantaneously sweeter because of it. It isn’t always a walk in the park. It is definitely challenging at times but I wouldn’t have it any other way. My business and the people I’ve met because of it are constantly shining a light on the person I aspire to be. In truth, it often feels like the people I photograph are doing more for me than I will ever be able to do for them. . .

. . . nevertheless, I’m so thankful for everyone who supports me on my journey. Every person who comments, who follows my blog, who tells others about my photography, who smiles and laughs with me - you truly have no idea how much it means to me.

Rachel

I know Rachel through Irish dancing. Some of my nearest and dearest friends are those who I danced with since I was five years old. We’d spend every wednesday together at practice and countless hours over the summer together at competitions. Some of my favorite memories are sitting around with all of the girls while we waited for results - more often than not, waiting for results was a lengthy process. I can remember so many times where we’d all get all gooftroop (real word? why yes!) and giggly because we’d get so bored while waiting for the results. We did what we needed to do to make the time pass faster.

Rachel is that girl everyone loves to be around. She brightens any circumstance. So personable and in my opinion, hilarious. I’m a better person having known her for so long.

Rachel - I’ve said it before, thank you for being a wonderful friend and for bringing so much sunshine into my life. I hope your birthday was all you could ever hope for and more! Lots of love xoxo

Caity

If you’d like to blame anyone for Rachel’s good looks, blame her Mom & Dad (whom I love!) :)

Bye for Now!

Here’s what I’m thinking right now . . . Kali is one of my favorite people in. the. WORLD! I’ve spent the last 10 days with her and I’m spoiled because of it. I hadn’t seen her since she up and moved to Arizona last August. That’s a long time to go without seeing a best friend. Right?! The majority of our time was spent overeating and then going to the gym because we overate in the first place. One of the best things about Kali is she is super fit and great about getting herself to the gym. She’s awesome motivation. I’ve been to the gym everyday for the last 10 days. Except New Years day. We all know that day doesn’t really count though :)

Anyway, I just dropped her off at the airport and I’m suuuuper bummed she’s gone :( BUT, I couldn’t wait  to come home and look over these few images I got of Kali in the snow before we left. It’s funny because Kali loathes (truthfully) the cold so I knew I wouldn’t have very much time before she AND my fingers would freeze. Turned out not to be a problem because I got a handful of images that make my heart smile.

I will be making a very exciting trip out to California (more on that later) in february and Kali is coming out to spend a weekend with me! Luckily, Cali is just a hop, skip and a jump away from Arizona. I couldn’t be more excited. So Kali, bye for now. But I’ll see you soon in sunny California! OOXOXO

Kali, you are beautiful.

Resolutions

* Read more. Growing up, my piano teacher had a sign taped to a black file cabinet next to her piano that read ‘Those who don’t read are no better off than those who can’t read’.

* Say I Love You more.

* Less time on the computer = more time for myself.

* Learn to be a morning person. If and when I get up super early, it’s always sheer misery for the first ten minutes but afterwards I love it! Early bird catches the worm. Extra bonus points for getting my workout done early in the morning too :)

* Live in the moment. To me, this is harder than it sounds. It’s so easy to get caught up in the past and all of our future plans. This year I want to slow down and pay more attention to the moments and how I’m really feeling inside.

BMR at their holiday show. More to come soon :)

bmrblog

G - Great resolutions! My resolution is to use the exclamation point less. I don't think that will be easy, especially on this site!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beth - Can you add one more to the end? *Visit Sista B in Boston one last time* kthanksgreat!! xo

New Years Eve

I have so much to be thankful for in my life. So many reasons to be truly grateful. Family, friends, health, happiness, love…

Skrrrt. Wrong holiday. Thanksgiving has come and passed.

But who am I kidding? New Years Eve makes me feel blessed more than anything else. Blessed to have another awesome and exciting year under my belt. Spoiled to have had my amazing family by my side all along. Lucky to have all of the incredible people I call friends in my life. I feel silly using words like amazing and incredible because they never seem to do justice to what I’m really, honestly trying to say. My heart is so full tonight. I’m one lucky and happy girl this New Years Eve.

Here’s to a happy, healthy, and inspiring 2010! xxoox

Posts are always happier with a picture! Here’s one of myself and the coolest girl around, my wonderful friend Kali :)

Beth - pretty girls!

Christmas 09′

This gives me a serious case of the happies. Christmas was uhhh-mazing this year! There is nothing better than spending time with family (and overeating, obviously!)  during this time of year. And that is exactly how I spent my Christmas. My entire family is rarely all together at once anymore and I think that’s why I love Christmas so much. That and the cookies. It’s almost a relief that the holidays are almost over because it’s time to lay off the sweets. Truthfully. You can find me at the gym for the next 3 months.

My sister gave me a flip camera for Christmas and I. LOVE. IT.  I’ve been really interested in videography recently and this little gadget gives me just a little taste :) I made a little video of Christmas day with the Sullivans…its no masterpiece but it makes me feel oh so warm and fuzzy inside! I hope your Christmas made you feel the same.

Note: Star Trek is cool. As is Nsync  :D

kali - holy MOLY!!!! That was the happiest thing I have ever seen in my entire 22 years of life! Truthfully. holy. moly. And what the heck did you get that made you cry?? MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Megan - i lovvveee this!! You about made ME cry!! :o)

G - Did make me cry on numerous occasions. What a great Christmas!! Perfect!!!

Wordle

Such a fun website :) I made one with my favorite Chrimmy song Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. And a few words of my own…

picture-1

G - Totally fun!!! Totally totally.

kali - love it! very graphic design-ish.

Chrimmy Spirit [+] India Arie

Feeling super in the christmas spirit today : ) Yesterday I went to do some christmas shopping and instead walked away with only a pair of boots for myself. Shoot. Better luck next time.

Unrelated, but I’m loooving this song right now. I saw India Arie a couple of months ago at the Murat when she opened for John Legend. Love her!

G - Love the new look of your blog!! It's looks just like you.

Sista B - Aww I love the polka dots and the pictures of you! Makes me really happy. Like...really, really happy. xo
