6:48A

It is 6:48 in the morning and I’m up. I’m officially so stoked about life that I can’t sleep and y’all – I’m a sleeper if there ever was one.

Since I began the rebranding process in February, I promised myself that I wouldn’t hold back. Ever. CSP means way too much to me to go through the motions half-heartedly. I made a promise that I’d go big. Fortune favors the bold.

As I am literally on the brink of launching a new brand, I feel as though my LIFE is on the brink of something HUGE! Every day I awake to all of the possibilities and friends, I am STOKED. I hear from new people every day and that thrills me so much. There is really no better feeling than that of recklessly pursuing your dreams and believing that YOU are worth your dreams and deserve to do something each day that sets your heart on fire.

I’m a passionate person but particularly when it comes to chasing your dreams. If I can go to bed at night knowing I’ve encouraged just one person to make that phone call, write that email, send that resume – whatever it may be – then I am happy. I just can’t stress this enough:

You are worth it. You deserve it. You CAN and you WILL do it.

One of my favorite quotes for you this morning:

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. -Marianne Williamson

I’m not generally one for posting sneak peaks on my blog but you know what – I just can’t wait to share. Small bit of what’s to come…

One of the sweetest couples I’ve ever photographed. Total and complete joy to be around – Melissa & Demetri’s engagement session:

Liz - Such a lovely sentiment to begin the day! You've inspired me to make blueberry pancakes this morning. My husband is VERY thankful ;-) These photos...looks like you captured happiness. Not easy do to, but you do it oh so beautifully.

amanda reynolds - so excited for you...love your contagious JOY! That is one of my fave quotes too, no surprise :)

Elizabeth - Caitlin - I feel as though you're on the brink of something HUGE too! I am so excited to see what's in store... especially in this next week! Congrats!

Janell - You always brighten my day with your encouraging words. I am so excited to see what you have up your sleeve for CSP! And as always... lovely lovely photos :)

Morgan - Love our cute Tori + Brian! Can't wait for more :)

To All That’s To Come

Life is too short to play small.

This sentiment has set fire within my heart over this last year. All of those times that you find yourself day dreaming about what you’d love to do someday, someday in the future when you’ve got the time, resources and worth – Stop. Breathe. Regroup. Take Action.

It does not matter where you start or how big of an action you take. Begin anywhere. Rome was not built in a day. Baby steps. The Making Things Happen tumblr inspires me every single day. I’m so grateful for my experience at MTH this past November. MTH gave me the confidence I needed to take scary steps in the face of fear.

This coming week will literally be monumental for me. I have been rebranding since February and have poured my heart and soul into these changes. CSP means the world to me and to all of those sharing in the excitement for my launch, thank you.

Stick around, friends. You won’t want to miss this.

Lots of love,

Caitlin

Bon Iver + Giveaway

Hi, friends! Can I just first tell you it means so much to have a safe place to share my heart and my dreams with you all. It means even more to know I’m sharing with friends literally all over the world. What a blessed life we live!

This past weekend? OMG y’all! I won’t lie – I was a little nervous. I had a big wedding with a rad couple on Saturday (who brought a ’57 Bel-Air Chevrolet to their wedding!? Um YES) and a shoot that has been in the works for weeks now on Sunday. I’m tough on myself and always want to do my best…for my clients and just as much for myself. I’m happy to report that this weekend went beautifully and I’m blessed to have networked and made some exciting new connections. I so love meeting new people and hearing their stories. Can I also add what amazing possibilities can come to fruition when you put yourself out there? It’s a beautiful thing!

Last night I saw Bon Iver in concert and it was incredible. It was easily one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen and the fact that we were just three rows from the stage (and in front of the speakers, no less) didn’t hurt one bit. Good music puts my life into perspective and great, live music makes my heart sing in immeasurable ways.

In case you’re wondering, Internet, this was my date. *Blush. I told Kyle 12 times last night that I loved his tie. But really, don’t you too?!

The thing is: You make my life better. You – reading this. I could never fully express my gratitude for your support and friendship throughout my journey. I could tell you all day every day and wouldn’t feel as though that was enough. I try my best to show my gratitude daily and in that spirit, I only want to offer a small token of my appreciation today.

If you wish, please leave a comment on this post telling me what you’re grateful for today. At 5 PM (PST), Friday 7/29 – I will select a comment at random and gift that person with the most recent Bon Iver Album. If you read my blog and never comment, this is a wonderful time to leave a lil note and introduce yourself. I appreciate you so much and want to get to know you!

boniver

I’m so excited to hear from you! Go get em, friends.

HUGS,

Caitlin :)

Jillian - Hi! :D Your blog makes me SO happy. You shot Chris Stocker's engagement photos and eventually his wedding photos. He has been a friend of my family's for years! The photos were beautiful and I have been hooked ever since and LOVE what you do. Keep up the good work!

Beth - I'm writing not because I want to win the Bon Iver album, but to tell you two very important things: 1) I'm so jealous that you got to go to the concert last night. So. Jealous. 2) You're beautiful. I couldn't be more proud of you. xoxox!

Lisa - I was gonna comment before I saw the contest, juust btw...but I'm grateful for YOU, and the happiness you're going to bring to my wedding :). Love every bit of this!

Kate S - CAITLIN! I'm comment-shy on the internet, but here I go. Sometimes it's hard to realize this on these long, hot days, but I really am thankful for the opportunity to get to hang out with 60 awesome kids this summer and join them in all their craziness! Thanks Boys and Girls Club of Btown! Sweet tie, Kyle!

G - Totally the best...totally, totally!!!

Anna - I am on vacation with my family right now, and soooo thankful for them. They drive me crazy sometimes, but they take such good care of me and make me laugh until my sides hurt. :) I'm a lucky girl!

Gail - Oh Caitlin, I don't need to win this (since I already have the album! AND LOVE IT) but I just wanted to comment on how adorable you and your man look here! Beautiful post!

april - I'm thankful that I met you. Your positive outlook on life is inspiring.

Grace - Hi Girly, I never post but I look here all the time for the wonderful photos you take of love, family, and babies. It always makes my day better! I'm so impressed that you've made such a wonderful and fun business happen! Congratulations and thank you for sharing all the 'happy' you witness! <3

karen rez - Great ties and shirts - that's my boy! So glad you had such an incredible "up-close and personal" time. May your heart continue to sing so you can produce your own special music.

Two Months

Today Noah George is two months and I want him to know a few things so, Noah G…listen up boy:

You’ve changed my life. Really. I look at things differently and with a bigger heart ever since you arrived. I don’t sweat the small stuff as much when I think of you. It’s amazing to see how you’ve changed our family. The other day I was out to lunch with your grandma and we were chatting about you and BOOM!!! she’s teary eyed with a silly grin saying ‘I just love him SO much!” We all feel that way little Noah. You’ve stolen our hearts and hold them captive.

Today I got to visit you and your Mama and I couldn’t get over how big you look already – in only two months. You’re so smiley and your eyes are starting to focus more (though, I secretly love that you’re still mildly cross eyed most times). I can’t wait until I can make goofy faces at you and you will laugh. Won’t be long little man.

Thanks for being you. You’re just this huge bright spot in my life and I’m forever thankful.

Lots of XOs and cuddles,

(your super proud) Auntie Caity

noah

KTR - He's growing up so quickly!!! I'm proud of you, NG-Unit :)

Justice - OMG!!!! What a cutie!!!!!!

G - Noah, you are growing up too fast. Hugs & kisses from grammy!!!

Gail - I feel like you were JUST blogging about his birth! Yeesh...time really does fly! PS - What a cutie!

Who’s G?

I’ve had so many people who follow my blog ask me in person, “Who’s G?”.  More often than not, G is the first person to comment on each of my posts. I want to clear this up. With as much as I adore my family, I need my followers to know who G is.

G is my mother. G stands for Gretchen. G is my biggest supporter and the greatest woman I know. She cheers me on each and every single day and what she doesn’t know is that I wouldn’t be where I am with my business today if it weren’t, in very large part, for her. She has held my hand through the scary decisions and celebrated my milestones with me. She pushes me to be a better person and the best business woman I possibly can. She believes in me and has great faith in my future – which, she tells me often and I never, ever take for granted.

G is a creative commenter. Sometimes I’ll have a proud moment and laugh out loud at her comment, but most times my heart just grins. She has a heart of pure gold. A fun sample of G comments:

OMG!!!!! These are gorgeous. Love, love, love every one of them.
Made me smile.
Absolutely stunning!
I have been so blessed.
What a beautiful story!!! These images are so powerful. They are absolutely beautiful. Welcome to the world Noah George. Now I must go repair my makeup.
Tear* You are such a beautiful part of our lives. Thank you. XOXOXOXOXO
I am starting to sound like a broken record. I am running out of superlatives. These are just plain beautiful.

G snuck into my blog on my 24th bday and wrote this sweet message which I’ll forever be grateful for.

This past Mother’s Day, I made this short video starring sweet Mama G.

Mama G – I love you to the stars and back. I don’t tell you enough so I want to tell you now publicly and for everyone to see: I appreciate your support more than you’ll ever fully know. I thank God every day for blessing our family with a Mama who is a fearless leader and a faithful best friend. You truly make this world a better place.

xo’s!

Caitybug

G - G is so blessed.

Lisa - Wow! Those pictures are great, and you look so much like your mom when she was younger :)

Virginia - I can see from everything that you and Beth say and do that she is beautiful, smart and kind - just like her daughters.

megan - Loved this. So sweet and so amazing to have such a wonderful mama in your life unconditionally supporting you. And dang G look at those legs! Knockout! ;)

Keep Doing What You’re Doing

She said it so simply. Keep doing what you’re doing.

I can remember in high school my dad proof reading papers for me and he always used to tell me to make my point in as little words as possible. Why the fluff and the frill? There is no need. Keep to the point in as few words as possible.

Her message was not long. A short paragraph that ended: Keep doing what you’re doing. To the person who said this, and you know who you are, I thank you. Really. In a world where the temptation to compare yourself is so easy, you’ve reminded me what matters most and that is to be me. The real, raw and unabashed Caitlin. That is what I do best and to attempt anything else is only robbing me of my potential.

When you help lift another, you are in turn lifting yourself. I challenge you to reach out and encourage a friend today. You never know what difference you will make.

Keep on keepin on,

xo Caitlin

Opportunity

When you wake up in the morning, the world is literally at your feet and the opportunities are ripe. Always. What are you tapping into?

The Simpkins Family

Photographing young boys is usually a mixture of 5 parts wild: 2 parts chasing them around : 3 parts keeping them entertained : and probably like 20 some parts FUN. They keep me on my toes and challenge me as a photographer to really be in the moment with them.

Matt, Joyce, Luke and sweet little Rowan – Photographing a family like yours keeps my heart young. Thank you for running the streets of Fountain Square with me on a perfect summer night. I appreciate you guys so much!
